Setting up The Sound Of the Video
The Power of Sound in My Music Video
I'm setting up the sound for my music video that I worked on with Sarah for my A-level Media Studies advanced portfolio. Right now, I’m working in a DAW (maybe Logic Pro or GarageBand), and I can see a tooltip suggesting that I press the "R" key while dragging to select a range. This reminds me how important it is to be precise when working with sound—small details can make a huge difference.
I’m making sure that everything in my project works together seamlessly. One of my main focuses is syncing the audio perfectly with the visuals—every beat, every sound effect, and every transition needs to feel natural and intentional. I’m also balancing the levels so that nothing overpowers anything else. If the music is too loud, it can drown out important dialogue or key sounds, and if the dialogue is too soft, the message might get lost.
Another crucial part of my sound design is using fades and transitions to smooth out any rough cuts between different audio clips. Abrupt audio cuts can be jarring, so I’m making sure that everything flows naturally. I also want to experiment with EQ, reverb, and delay to enhance the overall atmosphere. A well-placed echo or a subtle background hum can completely change the mood of a scene.
This part of the process is time-consuming, but I know it’s worth it. Sound has the power to make my video truly immersive, and I want to make sure that when people watch it, they don’t just see it—they feel it.
